At the age of four Leaf Hallelujah Newman began crafting her sound when a family friend brought over an old beat up two- stringed guitar to her Los Angeles home. As her dad would put it, “she just walked over and started playing, her fingers moved like butterfly wings”. Inspired by the sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan Charlie Parker, and Mahalia Jackson, Leaf's musical talents are undeniable. Her songwriting talents were were featured at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival in the independent film Virgin Again, which has been shown on the Black Family Channel. Read More...................

Music is art and there is no limit to what you can do or where it can take you. To put a name on it is to limit it", says Chilton, a singer, songwriter and producer whose influences vary from Curtis Mayfield , Prince and Jimi Hendrix to Earth, Wind and Fire and Led Zeppelin.
"I believe that if you can play one style or genre of music you should be open to hearing and playing other styles. That is true musicianship. That is true song writing." Says the Atlanta based artist who describes his sound as free yet aggressive and bold. "Music is free flowing like water, and it has no predjudice either you like it or you don't."

4:00 BLACKS
Atlanta Ga.
After forming in the summer of 2007, the Blacks played their first show a few months later and have quickly become one of the most exciting and unique bands to hit central Georgia. The Blacks have a radio friendly rock sound (imagine the Strokes backing Weezer) that’s guaranteed to win over even the most casual of music fans after one listen. This, along with energetic performances and word-of-mouth, has won them a dedicated fan base that grows with every show.
A focus on songwriting and infectious melodies is evident in their live set, which consists solely of original material. Most recently, the band was named winners of the “2008 Battle for the Boro”, an annual battle of the bands in Statesboro, GA that featured over 20 regional acts at the 2008 event. The Blacks were also recently featured in an upper level showcase at Atlanta’s legendary Masquerade.

"Some people become artists because they seek fortune and fame. They believe that somehow performing, writing and producing will bring them accolades and the feeling of success. Then there are those that have no choice in the matter because music has chosen them. They are compelled to write, perform and record the way the rest of us are compelled to breathe. Whether they sell five million records or just five, those people enjoy music for what it is, Music. D’Soul is one of these rare individuals. Born and raised in the tough streets of Harvey, Ill -- near Chicago’s southside – D’Soul was anointed with the gift of music from the beginning. From his grandmother's Sunday blasting of Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind & Fire to his mother's heavy gospel influence, music has been a part of his life. "

Born and bred in an atmosphere where music was as normal as breathing, the likes of the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, James Brown and all things soulful resonated. The era known as The Golden Age would be an influence to permeate through every thought, melody, or lyric to come. Kiara Nasaya Mitchell, born to parents Ronald and Phyllis Mitchell, was in a way fated to fall into the everlasting clutches of music. A student of instrumentation through brass and woodwind alike, once premature, knowledge gained would soon play a vital role in shaping projects to come.

4:30 CITY PROJECT
. Charlotte NC
City Project was created in 2006 and consists of members Jay (Doester) Johnson, Dante (The Veteran) West, and David (Onomatopoetic) Atkins. The band was founded by mistake (just like champagne) when they were collaborating on a few tracks for Dante's 1st solo album "The City". The chemistry was too much to deny and thus City Project was formed. Their 15-Track LP (Self Titled) has been awaited by many as the group has kept free promos circulating throughout Charlotte to wet the appetites of Hip-Hop fans everywhere. City Project's sound is unique to say the least. Their music is a powerful mix of thumping Hip-Hop beats laced with soaring Rock power. Major influences include: Outkast, Pink Floyd, 2 Pac, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Biggie, Coldplay and Wu-Tang--just to name a few. The group has striven to create a genre of music that should remain unclassified. "It is VERY important to us that nothing sounds typical. We want to leave a mark on everyone who loves true music" says The Veteran, who has been gracing the hip-hop scene since 1996 as a member of the group "Philosophical".
