July 3, 2007 Over one thousand blind people will gather to begin the first-ever March for Independence, the pioneer civil rights march for the blind. The March for Independence is a 5K march demonstrating the independent spirit of the nation's organized blind, their friends, family, and supporters. The honorary chair of the March is Ambassador Andrew Young. Congressman John Lewis will be participating alongside members of the National Federation of the Blind from every state in the nation.  www.nfb.org

July 4, 2007 The 47th Annual Salute 2 America Parade celebrates Independence Day, honoring the 60th anniversary of the US Air Force. The nation’s largest Independence Day parade will be hosted by Channel 2 Action News Anchor, Monica Pearson and Sports Director, Chuck Dowdle. July 4, 2007 Celebrate Independence Day in Downtown’s Centennial Olympic Park with children’s arts and crafts, shopping at unique food and merchandise vendors, live entertainment and Atlanta’s best fireworks display.
